Tanning Method FAQ
Can I alternate between spray tanning and UV bed tanning?
Yes, many guests enjoy both services. There is no rule against alternating between spray tans and UV bed sessions, but timing matters.
How long should I wait between sessions?
For UV bed sessions, follow the recommended waiting period on your membership tier — typically 24 hours between sessions for most bed levels. For spray tans, allow the solution to fully develop and rinse (usually 8-24 after application) before your next UV session. Your in-store technician can advise the best timing based on your current color and skin condition.
Will spray tan bronzer affect my UV bed session?
Spray tan bronzers and DHA (the active tanning ingredient) can create uneven results if you go in a UV bed before the solution has fully developed and been rinsed off. Always rinse your spray tan thoroughly and allow skin to dry completely before using a UV bed. If you're unsure, ask a technician before your session.
Can I use tanning lotions in the UV bed if I have a spray tan?
Some tanning lotions may interact with residual spray tan solution and cause uneven color. Check with your in-store technician about which lotions are compatible with your current tan before applying them in the UV bed.
What about skin sensitivity?
Switching between spray tanning and UV bed tanning can sometimes cause increased skin sensitivity, dryness, or irritation, especially with frequent use. Keeping skin well moisturized between sessions helps maintain an even result. If you notice unusual redness, irritation, or discomfort, pause sessions and consult a professional.
Which method is right for me?
Both methods have their own benefits — UV beds build a natural melanin-based tan over time, while spray tans provide immediate color without UV exposure. The best choice depends on your goals, timeline, and skin type. Our in-store technicians are happy to help you choose the approach that fits your needs. Always follow the guidance of your in-store technician.
